Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides intensive care service to high-risk newborns (premies, newborns with intrauterine growth retardation, asphyxia, respiratory distress, jaundice and metabolic problems). Daily examinations of newborns next to their mothers who gave birth in our obstetric clinic and newborn screening tests are performed. In our newborn polyclinic, follow-up of newborns who were hospitalized in our NICU, screening tests, growth and neurodevelopmental follow-up of healthy newborns, vaccination follow-up, retinopathy of prematurity examinations, premature osteopenia examinations, hip dysplasia examinations and RSV prophlylaxis are performed. In the NICU, in addition to medical treatments, many interventional procedures are also used in diagnosis and treatment. The most important of these can be listed as phototherapy and exchange transfusion in the treatment of neonatal jaundice, use of mechanical respiratory devices in respiratory diseases, transfontanel ultrasonography of premies and echocardiography of newborns with heart disease can be performed at the bedside, also bedside X-rays can be performed. NICU services include respiratory support (oxygen support, basic mechanical ventilation and advanced mechanical ventilation), phototherapy, exchange transfusion, cardiorespiratory monitorization, ultrasonography, echocardiography, EEG monitoring, vision and hearing check ups, physical therapy and rehabilitation, neurological follow-up and also pre and postoperative care of newborns.
